GoDaddy, a top player in domain registration, has opted for Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its hosting platform, moving ahead of its competitors. The agreement with AWS was announced on March 28, with the financial details remaining undisclosed.

Migration is expected to be a slow process, taking several years to transfer nearly all of GoDaddy’s existing infrastructure, with the exception of managing the 75 million domains, which is the company’s primary focus.

GoDaddy and AWS are collaborating to integrate services like managed WordPress hosting and GoCentral into the AWS platform, offering customers tools to establish their online presence.

GoDaddy’s Chief Technology Officer, Charles Beadnall, stated that AWS will help GoDaddy speed up the launch of its offerings and swiftly make them available worldwide to customers. AWS operates in 18 regions globally, such as the USA, Australia, Brazil, and Canada.

After shutting down its own Cloud initiative in mid-2017, GoDaddy decided to utilize AWS infrastructure for hosting services, including Media Temple’s managed WordPress hosting, following the acquisition of Media Temple in 2013.

TechCrunch and Business Wire provided the information.
