WP Engine, a hosting company, secured a $250 million investment from the Silver Lake investment fund, as disclosed on the company’s website on January 4.
WP Engine needs to invest funds in innovation initiatives and expand its operations in the global market, as stated in the announcement. The company recently established its third overseas office in Brisbane, Australia, in addition to its existing locations in London, England, and Limerick, Ireland.
WP Engine focuses on hosting WordPress websites, offering tools to assist customers in hosting, optimizing, and analyzing their sites. The company, headquartered in Austin, USA, was established in 2010 and serves more than 75,000 clients across 130 countries.
Silver Lake asserts its position as a global frontrunner in technology investments, boasting around $39 billion in assets. The company collaborated with other funds to invest in GoDaddy in 2011, following a prior investment in Locaweb in 2010.
